The Farm Assurance guidelines have changed. It is now recommended that at least one team member responsible for administering medicines has undertaken training and holds  a certificate of competence.

Attending a medicines course will ensure you are compliant with this recommendation.

Mastering Medicines is a workshop designed to provide farmers and farm workers with the information they need to ensure medicines are used safely and effectively on-farm.

Learning Outcomes

Þ Improve knowledge of different medicines available on farm and improve decision making

Þ Safely administer medicines to animals under their care

Þ Record medicine use in accordance with legislation

Þ Store and maintain medicines on farm in accordance with legislation and farm assurance requirements.

Þ Describe the difference between vaccines and treatments and the different legislative classes

Þ Describe basic differences that exist between different classes of antibiotic and the need for veterinary guidance for their use

Þ Describe the basic classes of anthelmintics and the need for veterinary or SQP guidance on their use

Þ Understand the actions of an NSAID and when they should be used.

Þ Understand the responsibility of those administering medicines to farm animals

£50 + VAT for the first trainee from each holding £30 for each additional trainee.
