Multiple Ovulation and Embryo Transfer (MOET or just ET)

MOET offers an excellent method of maximising the genetic potential of your best animals. Typically, a cow will produce one calf each per year but by using MOET, it is possible to generate multiple offspring from your best cows. This is done by recovering embryos from the good cow and transferring them into recipient animals in the herd.

After flushing embryos from the cow, they can be transferred fresh into recipients on the same day or frozen and placed in storage for use at a later date. Although transferring fresh offers slightly higher conception rates, storing frozen embryos means they can be used when most convenient on farm.
