Richard Bartle.
Advanced Breeding Advisor
Also known as Bart, Richard has joined the Advanced Breeding team to provide consultancy services. Amongst many things Bart will be providing breeding advice, showing advice and ensuring our recipient cows receive the absolute best care for maximum results.
Richard started his career in livestock milking cows on a pedigree Friesian herd in North Notts and then running a relief milking and show and sale preparation business with John Thornborrow Livestock auctioneers which is where his interest in pedigree cattle started. Richard managed the Grovehouse Herds of Pedigree Simmentals, British Blue and Parthenais cattle in the early eighties. Then the Peasley herd of Limousins, and latterly the Wilodge and Dinmore pedigree herds of Limousin.
Richard learnt to AI in 1984 and latterly undertaken an epidural anaesthesia course at Liverpool University and Scanning and Implantation course at Embryonics in Cheshire.
We're proud that Richard has judged many of the Royal and county shows in the UK and also Limousins in the Paris show in 2017. He's also on the breed panel for most beef breeds in the UK and enjoys judging cattle of any breed!
In his spare time Richard enjoys country sports and spending time with his grandchildren. In his younger days he once raced motorbikes around tracks in the UK and still enjoys motorsports but no longer in a competing capacity.
With a keen interest in helping the young stockpersons and Richards has enjoyed teaching them skills practically and stock judging to a national standard.
Richard recently married Rosie and they are now living in Pontrilas, close to the Welsh border.
